The Rose That Grew From The Concrete Inspired
On April 25, 2026, I had an amazing opportunity to participate at SUNY Oneonta’s annual spring fashion show! My collection is called: “The Rose That Grew From the Concrete”, Inspired by Tupac’s Poem
It goes: “Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete? Proving natures law is wrong it learned to walk without having feet. Funny it seems, but by keeping it’s dreams, it learned to breathe fresh air. Long live the rose that grew from concrete when no one else ever cared” (November 1, 1999) – Tupac Amaru Shakur.
My concept behind the poem represents how anyone can succeed no matter what their background is. It represents strength to continue moving forward regardless of the circumstance. Insight the difficult events that happened in my life, it was important to stay true to myself, and to keep my faith. I want to thank God, my family, my friends, and my professors for helping me succeed and bloom through my challenges during my journey here at college. I am incredibly grateful!

Materials
I designed 2 innovative recycled looks completely out of faux flowers, garbage bags, rope, tissue paper, burlap ribbon, and chicken wire. I also designed 2 ready-to-wear looks, one for women’s wear and one for menswear.
